Efeito Wicked!

A popularidade de Wicked, tanto nos palcos quanto nas telas, certamente despertou a curiosidade de muita gente sobre O Mágico de Oz. Foi exatamente isso que aconteceu comigo: assistir à peça e ouvir menções à Dorothy sem entender o contexto me instigou a finalmente ler esse clássico.

A leitura é fácil, leve e encantadora. Os personagens têm um carisma muito próprio — curiosamente, a que menos se destaca nesse aspecto é a própria protagonista. Ainda assim, a história tem reviravoltas interessantes e um ritmo ágil, que prende sem exigir demais. Me surpreendi com a brevidade do livro, mas ao final não senti que faltava nada — um feito raro, que mostra como L. Frank Baum soube ser conciso sem perder a magia.

Agora entendo por que essa obra é considerada um clássico, e recomendo fortemente sua leitura, mesmo nos dias de hoje. Confesso que não sou grande fã de ficção, mas esse livro conquistou minha admiração. Me tornei um fã da série? Não exatamente — vou parar por aqui, já que sei que há várias continuações. Mas essa primeira visita ao mundo de Oz foi mais do que suficiente.
