In present-day New York, Lynch briefs Burnout, Rainmaker, Maggie Monroe, Sigma, and Simon Tsung on his plan to steal the complete IO files on Project Genesis. Monroe is initially resistant, but Tsung talks her into going along. 30 years in the future, Lynch, Dane, and Chang torture Grifter for the rebels' location while the D'rahn invade Manhattan in force, destroying IO. Lynch refuses to surrender and orders Chang and Dane to release the enzyme. The three of them then flee even as Grifter breaks free. The enzyme spreads through the city, killing D'rahn and humans alike. At the rebel base, Gen 13 and the rebels battle attacking Evolutionaries. Bobby, Sarah, and Dr. Tsung sacrifice themselves so the others can escape. In the streets, they pass Chang and Dane fighting aliens, and Grunge insists on helping them. Chang directs Gen 13 and Sigma to follow Lynch to the UN just as the enzyme kills him, Dane, Enertia, and Vibe. The team reaches Lynch, but he attacks them. Grifter arrives and holds him off while Sigma gets Gen 13 to the time machine. Lynch kills Grifter and uses Caitlin's cortical sample to activate the machine. The D'rahn burst into the room and overwhelm Sigma and Lynch. As Caitlin, Roxy, and Grunge teleport back to the present, a dying Lynch tells them to prevent this future.
