The stakes are even higher in this epic, romantic conclusion to the New York Times bestselling Crimson Moth duology. A WITCH... Rune Winters is on the run. Ever since the boy she loved, Gideon Sharpe, revealed who she was and delivered her into enemy hands, everyone wants her dead. If Rune hopes to survive, she must ally herself with the cruel and dangerous Cressida Roseblood, who’s planning to take back the Republic and reinstate a Reign of Witches—something Cressida needs Rune to accomplish. A WITCH HUNTER... Apparently it wasn’t enough for Rune to deceive Gideon; she’s now betrayed him by allying herself with the witch who made his life a living hell. Gideon won’t allow the Republic to fall to the witches and be plunged back into the nightmares of the past. In order to protect this new world he fought for, every last witch must die—especially Rune Winters. AN IMPOSSIBLE CHOICE... When Rune makes Gideon an offer he can’t refuse, the two must pair up to accomplish dangerous goals. The more they’re forced into each other’s company, the more Gideon realizes the feelings he had for Rune aren’t as dead and buried as he thought. Now he’s faced with a terrible choice: sacrifice the girl he loves to stop a monster taking back power, or let Rune live and watch the world he fought so hard for burn. In Kristen Ciccarelli's Rebel Witch, the exciting conclusion to The Crimson Moth duology, love has never been so deadly.

"— My name is Rune Winters. Call me the Crimson Moth."

• SPOILERS | Quotes, Notes & Highlights • "But Gideon hadn’t wanted to see the truth. He’d wanted Rune." "Soren’s lip curled, as if he were inspecting a dead rat. — How dare you touch her. Gideon knew better than to open his mouth. But he couldn’t help himself. — At least she likes it when I touch her. "Cressida Roseblood had to be stopped, no matter the cost. She could not retake her throne, and she could not resurrect her sisters." "Had she feigned feelings for Gideon at first? Yes. Had she tried to seduce him to obtain valuable intel? Of course. It was the only way to rescue Seraphine. But at some point, she’d stopped pretending. At some point, the lie became real." "She was the Crimson Moth. A rebel witch." "— Love doesn’t sully you, — she said. — Love purifies you. Real love, anyway." "— You want the truth? — Her own hurt bubbled up, like steam from a volcano ready to erupt. — This is the truth: I would have married you in a heartbeat, had you asked me. I would have married you knowing you would hand me over to my killers — or kill me yourself — the moment you found out what I was. That’s how pathetic I am, Gideon! That’s how desperately I wanted to be yours!" "Before he came an inch closer, Gideon said, — She said no, William. Didn’t your parents teach you that when a girl says no, she means it?" "In uniform, it was harder to forget what he was. A soldier. A witch hunter. Her enemy. Yet here he was, buying her ice cream." "— I know a lie lived over and over will destroy a person, — he said." "— My name is Rune Winters. — Rune glanced at Gideon — call me the Crimson Moth." "— Will you miss me, Crimson Moth? She swallowed. — How can you ask me that?” — Is that a yes?" "Was Gideon worth the risk? Rune touched the coin hanging around her neck. Yes." "As Cressida’s eyes dropped to the book of love spells, her mouth twisted in a mocking smile. — Oh, Rune. Unlucky in love? Rune’s anger ignited. She lifted her chin. — I suppose I should thank you. If not for your curse, I wouldn’t have irrefutable proof that he loves me." "Despite the shock of it, despite Cressida’s ferocious grip tightening on her jaw, Rune stared the queen down. — Touch Gideon again, and I’ll make you wish you were dead." "Most of all: Was this worth it? Was Rune worth it? The thought of her only brought resolve. Rune is worth everything." "— The problem with love is the more you try to destroy it, the stronger it becomes." "— It might look like weakness on the surface. But in truth, it’s tougher than steel. Love can’t be controlled. Love can’t obey unjust laws. Love will always oppose tyrants." "— Most of us are sick of the options we’ve been handed. We don’t want to go back to being ruled by a corrupt dynasty of witches, but neither are we okay with the Republic’s authoritarian control. Deep down, we’re hungry for something" "I can’t change the past, he thought as they walked, taking in the damage. But together, maybe we can change the future." "— She’ll kill us both. Gideon stared at her. — Then it will be an honor to die at your side."
