É ficção científica!

Nesse livro ele fala da política através de um órgão governamental chamado "the Shop" - e no final nos fala um pouco da relação do livro com a atual situação política, que no caso era a guerra fria. Essa organização foi a responsável por testar a substância "lot six" em Vicky e Andy. Depois da experiência o casal adquiriu alguns poderes psíquicos, então se casaram e tiveram uma filha. E ela já nasceu com "poderes".

A partir daí tem perseguição, conspiração, construções secretas governamentais envolvendo alta tecnologia... E o começo é fascinante com a perseguição, as cenas de ação, fuga... Depois vemos a maturidade da Charlie, ao mesmo tempo que ela é manipulada de várias formas por ser uma criança meamo, o pai sofrendo com tudo o que a filha tem de passar...

A surpresa é não ser um livro nem de terror nem suspense, mas de ficção científica e ação. E é uma surpresa boa. O livro me prendeu, não que seja algo inovador nesse assunto de conspiração da segurança nacional americana, mas o fato de ter uma criança e não ser infantiloide, nem uma heroína nem a criança prodígio, é uma menina comum mesmo que se vê numa situação inusitada e sem ter culpa de nada.
