Seize the Day by Saul Bellow: Entirely set on one day in New York, this short novel focuses on a man in his mid-forties who is at the end of his rope—unemployed, seperated from his wife and children, badly in debt and facing the disdain of his father, who sees him as a failure. A chance encounter gives him the opportunity to make “barrels of money” in the stock market.

Solomon Bellow
Nasceu no Canadá, em 1915. Filho de judeus emigrados de São Petersburgo e posteriormente radicados em Chicago, graduou-se com distinção em antropologia e sociologia pela Universidade Northwestern. Um dos mais importantes escritores norte-americanos do século XX, autor de catorze romances e novelas e de numerosos volumes de contos, Bellow recebeu o prêmio Nobel de Literatura em 1976. Morreu em 2005, em Brookline, Massachussets.
