o livro não é só comédia, tem história, tem drama...mas mesmo nas situações mais dificeis o bom humor dos personagens impera. Os criados (são três) que adoram a Caroline a primeira vista e só poe comida na mesa se ela estiver presente, o que gera algumas cenas hilárias de "nobres" se atirando sobre bandejas de sanduiches e estomagos "urrando" de fome...Caroline com medo de que o Blake a mande embora resolve ser útil: destroi o jardim dele, poe a biblioteca abaixo, derrama água num tapete carissimo - tudo com "as melhores das intenções!"
