o filme ainda é melhor

O livro saiu anos após o filme, e foi muito bom ver aqui incluído todas as cenas deletadas e conhecer um pouco mais dos outros personagens. Como os traumas de infância do Todd e algumas inseguranças do Charlie.
Porém, a escrita deixa MUITO a desejar e em alguns momentos parece mais com um roteiro do que com um livro.
Eu recomendo a leitura para quem é fã do filme, mas se você quer conhecer a história agora, não comece pelo livro.
