en MacAllister is burned out and almost goes into a catatonic state when he returns to Accident & Emergency work. Ellie Harrison, a registered nurse who has remained innocent because no man has lit her fire, falls like a ton of bricks for Ben. She meets him after she crosses a flooded area to get to her cousin who is in labor with her first child. After Ellie's car stalls, she hitches a ride from Ben, unaware he's a doctor or a co-worker scheduled to start at her hospital within a few days. He delivers the baby, and she's interested in him, but figures he does not return her regard. Ben is a sympathetic character and Ms. Morgan does a great job building the interest and suspense in what exactly led to Ben's burn out regarding medicine in such a stressful area of the hospital. In Ellie, she has created a young woman that talks too much, says what she thinks and is just adorable. Her father died while scaling Mt. Everest and she is a member of the mountain rescue team herself, which gets called out when climbers or hikers get caught in sticky situations. So Ben sees her in various situations, none of which rattle her, allowing him to fall in love with the entire package not just her beautiful bod. Ben is so good looking that women stare at him. You may laugh out loud at Ellie's reaction when she gets a good look at him in the car as he's driving her to her cousin's for the baby's birth.
