Magdalena, the clever and headstrong daughter of Bavarian hangman Jakob Kuisl, lives with her father outside the village walls and is destined to be married off to another hangman’s son—except that the town physician’s son is hopelessly in love with her. Oliver Pötzsch é um escritor e cineasta alemão. Após o colegial, ele frequentou a Escola Alemã de Jornalismo em Munique 1992-1997. Em seguida, ele trabalhou para a Rádio Baviera. Além de suas atividades profissionais em rádio e televisão, Pötzsch pesquisado sua história familiar. Ele é um descendente do Kuisle, a partir do dia 16 ao século 19 uma famosa dinastia dos carrascos em Schongau.
