Anna and T.J. are en route to join T.J.'s family in the Maldives when the pilot of their seaplane suffers a fatal heart attack and crash-lands in the Indian Ocean. Adrift in shark-infested waters, their life jackets keep them afloat until they make it to the shore of an uninhabited island. Now Anna and T.J. just want to survive and they must work together to obtain water, food, fire, and shelter. Their basic needs might be met but as the days turn to weeks, and then months, the castaways encounter plenty of other obstacles, including violent tropical storms, the many dangers lurking in the sea, and the possibility that T.J.'s cancer could return. As T.J. celebrates yet another birthday on the island, Anna begins to wonder if the biggest challenge of all might be living with a boy who is gradually becoming a man.

A história demorou muito para desenrolar, eu entendo que ele era menor de idade antes e concordo com a autora ter esperado ele fazer dezoito, mas ele poderia ter completado dezoito muito antes e ai quando aconteceu não senti tanto a conexão entre eles, tudo foi muito circunstancial, aconteceu porque eles não tinham nada de melhor para fazer, e as cenas mais "quentes" nunca aconteceram a autora sempre pulava e impedia de você sentir a conexão entre eles. Mas até a hora que eles estavam na ilha tudo bem, foi quando eles foram resgatados que veio o problema, o livro estava quase acabando e veio um drama desnecessário e ele foi lá e dormiu com outra aleatória que também foi super desnecessário e não curti a autora ter adicionado isso no livro, não foi traição mas não curto quando o cara fala que ta apaixonado e vai la e transa com outra. Poderia ter dado mais estrelas mas esses últimos 10% estragou tudo.
