How I Made 2,00,000 In The Stock Market by Nicholas Darvas. The author concluded that Wall Street was nothing more than a huge gambling casino. It bristled with dealers, croupiers and touts--and he explained all of this in a later highly successful book, Wall Street: The Other Las Vegas. How I Made 2,000,000 in the Stock Market tells one of the most unusual success stories in the history of the stock market. Darvas was not a stock market professional trading on inside information. He was one half of the highest paid dance team in show business. He was able to make himself a millionaire several times over by his unique investment approach. Unlike other so--called systems, it worked regardless of whether the market rose or fell. When news of Darvas' fantastic profits and methods leaked out, he was featured in Time Magazine. He then was persuaded to write a book which became an instant hit, selling nearly 200,00 copies in eight weeks. Many of the companies talked about in this book no longer exist. Many of the stocks are no longer traded. Nevertheless, the basic principles are as sound as ever.

    Alguns pontos

    Nicolas Darvas

Hungarian by birth, Nicolas Darvas trained as an economist at the University of Budapest. Reluctant to remain in Hungary until either the Nazis or the Soviets took over, he fled in June 1943 at the age of 23 with a forged exit visa and fifty pounds sterling to stave off hunger in Istanbul, Turkey. Sometime later, he met up with Julia (his half-sister) who became his partner in a dancing team that was to become one of the most successful acts in Europe and the United States. In April 1953 Darvas and Julia appeared with Judy Garland and Bob Hope. By 1956, Darvas and Julia were touring the world. Darvas ploughed his money into a couple of stocks that had been hitting their 52-week high. He was utterly surprised that the stocks continued to rise and subsequently sold them to make a rare profit. Darvas decides to regroup to assess this remarkable occurrence. And it was here that Darvas came up with this approach and plan for trading stocks that was to see him achieve $2,450,000.00 fortune in just 18 months, during the 1957-58 bull market. At the age of 39, after accumulating his fortune and also being exposed in Time magazine. Darvas was to document his actions in the book, How I Made 2,000,000 in the Stock Market.
