No fim do livro, um novo amigo.

Este livro estava na minha lista de livros para ler há algum tempo e confesso que deveria tê-lo atacado antes. É uma história muito legal, que cobre algumas semanas na vida de um soldado na Guerra Civil americana. além de ter uma prosa envolvente, com descrições vívidas das batalhas e do cenário de uma guerra, também é uma obra comovente. Todos os sentimentos humanos estão presentes, sem pieguices ou apelações. O medo e a ansiedade, a coragem, a covardia, o ódio e a vaidade, tudo é vivido pelo protagonista. Este personagem é riquíssimo em suas discussões internas, seus questionamentos, suas autojustificações. Ao fim do livro, parece que ganhamos um amigo íntimo, tal o poder narrativo e o estilo do autor. Recomendadíssimo.
