Mavis Leslie de Trafford Gallant
Mavis Gallant (1922–2014) nasceu em Montreal e trabalhou como jornalista no Montreal Standard antes de se mudar para a Europa para se dedicar à ficção. Em 1950, depois de viajar bastante, ela se estabeleceu em Paris, onde permaneceria pelo resto de sua vida. Ao longo de sua carreira, Gallant publicou mais de cem histórias e despachos no The New Yorker. Em 2002, ela recebeu o Prêmio Rea em Conto e, em 2004, o Prêmio PEN / Nabokov por conquista vitalícia.
