Ótima novelização do filme.

Smith conseguiu trazer a estética pseudovitoriana que O Labirinto bem como a própria formação do mito do Rei Goblin que rouba crianças usando o poder que os "desejosos" lhe dão.

Essa releitura do mito de Erlkönig - o rei Elfo que caça humanos pela balada de Goethe - mistura a curiosidade das adolescentes pelo mundo adulto que oscila entre o sexo e a violência. Jareth, o antagonista, revela num texto decididamente mais pesado e sujo do que o do filme sua própria fascinação com a promessa da juventude de Sarah.

Justamente por essa narrativa que mescla a inocência e a depravidão que recomendo apenas aos maiores de quatorze anos. A quantidade de perguntas filosóficas pode terminar passando por cima dos leitores mais jovens.
