Walter Michael Miller Jr.
Walter M. Miller Jr. nasceu e cresceu na Flórida, Estados Unidos. Serviu a Força Aérea, alistando-se um mês depois de Peal Harbor. Passou quase toda a Segunda Guerra Mundial como operador de rádio e artilheiro de cauda. Participou de mais de 55 combates, entre os quais a polêmica destruição da abadia dos beneditinos em Monte Cassino, Itália, o mais antigo monastério do undo ocidental. Após a guerra, converteu-se ao catolicismo. Quinze anos depois, escreveu <i>Um Cântico Para Leibowitz</i> (1960).
