Nicknamed the "Mad Monk", the sinister Gregory Rasputin wielded enormous power at the court of Tsar Nicholas II. He practiced healing arts and had the mysterious ability to alleviate the suffering of the haemophiliac heir to the Russian throne, Alexis Nicholayevich. He was assassinated in 1916, much to the joy of many throughout Russia.
