Como esperado, o livro que conta a corrida dos maze runners através do labirinto tem de tudo um pouco.
Como todos os corredores devem passar pelos portões das 10 guildas, nada mais esperado que este encontrarem vários obstáculos a cada novo passo. Ajudando-os estará Jace, que novamente colocará sua própria vida em perigo tendo que enfrentar diretamente todas as armadilhas do labirinto e a fúria dos poderosos personagens que compõem esta história.
