Na noveleta Luminous Egan explora a ideia de que a matemática é algo pode existir concretamente, definido o universo como conhecemos. Porém, e se existir uma outra matemática possível, que defina um outro universo concorrente ao nosso, com outras leis matemáticas? E se, pela mera ação de realizar certos cálculos, estamos invadindo o espaço matemático de outra civilização. E se eles também resolverem invadir nosso espaço, alterando os princípios que regem nossa física e nossa lógica, em retaliação? Bastante filosófico sem deixar de ter uma boa dose de ação.
