Tédio, ação e emoção numa boa medida

Do começo ao meio, o livro é realmente um-pouco-bem tedioso. A Ellie se mostra uma personagem muito mais oscilante do que nos dois livros anteriores, causando um pouco de raiva ao leitor. Passado o tédio, John Marsden nos surpreende com ideias óbvias, mas desenvolvidas de maneira singular. Após o que seria o clímax do livro (até o momento) entram em foco as brigas dos personagens, algumas descobertas, fugas e cenas entrecortadas de ação. Todos os personagens passam por transformações psicológicas e são submetidos a medos. Não é, de jeito algum, uma leitura ruim. Ao fim, se torna um pouco cansativa, pois muito tempo é gasto para narrar um tempo que o grupo passa preso, no entanto, ao fim, o verdadeiro clímax é alcançado, com o suicídio de Robyn em nome do amor e e lealdade aos amigos. Um sacrifício de mártir, como digno da personagem. É de comover, verdadeiramente. Meus olhos ficaram marejados, mas não cheguei a chorar.
