Karen Marie Moning nasceu em Cincinnati, Ohio, uma de quatro crianças. Graduou-se pela Universidade de Purdue com um Bacherlato em Lei e Sociedade. Depois de uma década a trabalhar no ramo da advocacia, ela deixou o seu trabalho para perseguir o sonho de ter uma carreira como escritora. Quatro manuscritos e inúmeros trabalhos em part-time mais tarde, O Beijo do Highlander foi publicado e nomeado para os prestigiados prémios RITA.
