This is a book designed primarily to be entertaining. Music and art are, after all - or perhaps before all - meant to be entertaining in the best sense of the word. It would be a bit inaccurate to say that this is a book solely or even primarily "for children." Rather, it represents an attempt to speak to the childlike quality which, although so often sadly repressed in our obsession with maturity, nevertheless remains in all of us in at least a vestigial sense. This book, then, is for children, but is also for anyone who can temper his maturity with a certain childlike grace.
