Acontecem coisas estranhas quando você encara, sem pausa, as 1400 páginas de “Sherlock Holmes – The complete stories”. Talvez a mais grave seja o fato de que o seu monólogo interior começa a ser em inglês vitoriano. Mas isso passa logo. Outro fenômeno é achar cada vez mais interessante o filme do Guy Ritchie. E finalmente, lá pela trigésima aventura solucionada, você se dá conta de que Conan Doyle pode até ter escrito contos policiais, mas de alguma forma ele também produziu reflexões sobre literatura extremamente sutis. Holmes é um gênio, mas as suas aventuras dependem do medíocre Watson para serem escritas. A relação entre os dois funciona como uma tensão narrativa que é pura metalinguagem. Mas o meu monólogo interior vitoriano consegue elaborar essa teoria bem melhor.
