Educativa e desafiadora, essa primeira leitura de 2026 foi uma escolha baseada em um assunto que me interessa muito. Toda a geopolítica e história atual é fortemente e diretamente influenciada pelas cruzadas e conflitos entre cristões e árabes, reis e papas, aspirantes e conspirantes.

Antes dessa leitura, não tinha muita noção da influência e importância de Saladin para a história mundial. O personagem me despertou mais curiosidade do que os trocentos papas ou reis aqui citados. Dar conta de todos os nomes e referências não é tarefa fácil durante essa leitura.

Achei interessante que, apesar de o título ter uma proposta bem didática, o autor não parece se preocupar muito em construir uma narrativa mais literária. A linha do tempo aqui é bem factual e sem mecanismos de transição ou contexto a fim de manter uma narrativa central.
