Obra de terror e mistério escrita em 1897 (mesmo ano em que foi escrito "Drácula" / Bram Stoker).Inclusive na época (O Besouro) teve tanto sucesso quanto,mas caiu em esquecimento por muito tempo,mas depois resgatada e mais uma vez obteve grande sucesso.

A trama envolve quatro personagens principais,e a narrativa é composta pela versão e perspectiva de cada um em relação ao mistério que há na aparição de um ser enigmático,e sombrio.As descrições são aterrorizantes e o clima em que o autor envolve o(a) leitor(a) é de arrepiar.Muitas vezes o sentimento de estar sendo observado,mas não ver nada ao redor...de sentir um presença ouvir os sons...mas não ser capaz de ver...
A história se desenvolve a partir das experiências de cada um,e da dúvida se aquilo realmente está acontecendo ou se é loucura.
Fatores históricos também fazem parte da obra,estudos antigos sobre civilizações e lendas(?) ...Achei muito interessante a forma como cada personagem descreve o que passou,e de como tudo vai mudando a vida de cada um....de como o caos vai acontecendo...
De negativo, só destaco quem em alguns momentos a obra se arrasta (sei que faz parte do estilo da época e forma de escrita do autor...mas muita vezes chegava a ser meio entediante).Mas o mistério é bem conduzido,fato esse que faz a leitura novamente ser interessante.📚❤️
