It began with convincing his brother to jab his own eyes out with a fork to "see the light." And now, after sending 487 of his followers to meet their maker, Cantrell's manic faith is about to be tested as he and his fellow inmates are unshackled and released into The Coliseum. How long will they survive? What became of the original 20 prisoners? And what the hell is breeding in the deep, dark recesses of...THE COLISEUM!

Grose...to the bone

Esse garoto Craig Davidson tem uma imaginação maravilhosa e estupidamente doentia. Como Clive Barker nos tempos áureos.

O Coliseu tem uma proposta que eu conheço um monte de gente que babaria pra transformar em realidade. Pegue os piores criminosos da sua sociedade. Aqueles serial killers, assassinos em massa, estupradores de criancinhas - e jogue-os nesse estádio lacrado, sem supervisão e sem suporte nenhum a não ser uma comida jogada pelo teto de vez em quando. O problema é que o negócio lá dentro é muito mais fora de controle do que os guardinhas vendo pelo Big Brother das câmeras imaginam.

Não recomendo para estômagos fracos. Tem umas cenas bem pesadinhas. Os detalhamentos dos crimes das boas ovelhinhas que foram parar lá : assassinato com faca, com shotgun, por enforcamento, líder religioso de suicídio em massa tipo Charles Manson, estupros diversos, etc.

Só não ranqueio melhor esse livro porque não tem enredo nenhum. Mas devo dizer que boa parte do tempo alterei minha expressão entre caras de nojo extremo e risadas. A cena da granada de impacto é hilária. O final é meio previsível, não poderia ser muito diferente. Mas pra mim valeu a pena ler, por Harlan Ruddock e pela figura de Lazarus Cranson.
