Winston Churchill was the bulldog spirit behind the British victory over Germany in World War Two. Well know for his oratory, Churchill’s speeches were vital for building public morale during the war, particularly in 1940 and 1941, when Hitler was advancing through western Europe and Britain was heavily bombed during the blitz. He was also a journalist, painter and author, and was granted a State funeral on his death in 1965.
