Vigésimo-quarto volume da saga Discworld e quinto do arco Vigilância da Cidade.

Misturando investigação e diplomacia, Pratchett constroi uma trama que envolve a política dos anões, assim finalmente expondo a organização que havia sido apenas mencionada em outros volumes. Há muitos detalhes, mas destaco a forma como uma sociedade em que a exposição de gênero é tabu terminou se desenvolvendo.

Um dos melhores momentos do livro ficou com a confrontação entre Vimes e os Lobisomens que acabou gerando parte da lenda do novo Stone-Face. As sequências desse arco farão várias menções a isso.
