Uma surpreendente história de amor, embora à maneira Brian Staveley de ser. Pyrre foi uma das minhas personagens coadjuvantes favoritas da trilogia original, então eu tinha bastante curiosidade por essa história de origem, que se beneficia de um menor escopo e um grupo de personagens para trabalhar. Algumas coisas me incomodaram: a ênfase em toda a questão sobre se ela seria capaz de amar, mesmo que tenha feito sentido para o plot twist final (o qual eu meio que adivinhei no prólogo), soou demasiado repetitiva e cansativa. Além disso, a personalidade de Ela remetia demais à Pyrre mais velha que conhecemos nos outros livros, e embora isso também se justifique, me pareceu um tanto conveniente. Entretanto, a prosa de Staveley é sempre rica e envolvente, e toda a ambientação de Dombâng, remetendo ao Sudeste Asiático, mostra a riqueza deste universo. Ansioso para ler The Empire's Ruin e ver mais da saga!
