Um livros com aprendizados (mesmo nos momentos mais ruins)

Nunca havia ouvido falar no DJ Moby, nem de suas músicas.

O livro me surpreendeu. Depois de ler Verity (Co-Ho) e A Maldição (S.K.), queria um livro mais leve.

Mas Porcelain não é essa leveza que imaginei. Moby era um franzino garoto nova-iorquino que perdeu o pai ainda criança e ficou com a mãe que bebia e fumava. Triste imaginar a cena dele sentado numa lavanderia, enquanto a mãe fumava e coletava as roupas. Era sua fonte de renda.

Então, sua infância foi pobre.deppis foi morar sozinho, nos galpões de uma velha fábrica abandonada.

Morava num cubículo, sem água e alguma luz. Com paredes de compensado sujo e fedido. Ali foi o embrião de seu sonho de ser um DJ. já tinha o equipamento básico para fazer suas mixagens.

Seus vizinhos, alguns deles, eram traficantes. Um dia, um deles apareceu morto.. Moby acabou se acostumando com esses ambientes.

Tocava como DJ em pequenas casas noturnas.. era como se mantinha..pelo menos estava seguindo o que julgava ser sua profissão.

Quando foi convidado para tocar em um lugar mais badalado ele quase não acreditou. Então, aos poucos, sua carreira foi começando.

Foi contratado pela boate Mars, em NY. Ficou feliz em se mudar para onde nascera e, mesmo morando em condições muito precárias, seguia em frente. Enfrentou adversidades como empurrar seus discos (mais de centena) empilhados em seu skate, passando por poças de lama de neve derretida.

Bom... Moby alcança a fama depois de alguns anos, fazendo turnês, abrindo shows na Europa etc. mas mantinha-se fiel ao cristianismo e seus preceitos. Não bebia, não usava drogas etc.

Mas, após o auge da fama e o início de um possível fracasso em meados dos anos 1990, ele voltou a beber, um vício que voltou com força total, levando-o a tomar decisões erradas, a uma perigosa promiscuidade sexual, enfim.

Recomendo a leitura, porque Moby faz muitas reflexões interessantes em sua solidão.. Ele teve poucas namoradas..a maioria das mulheres passava em sua vida como uma tempestade ou uma leve chuva, e depois desaparecia. Ele ainda sonhava encontrar alguém com quem pudesse construir uma vida, uma família.

O livro relata com detalhes as aventuras e desamores de um DJ solitário, embora estivesse sempre cercado de bons profissionais e alguns amigos. De sua família restara sua mãe, que acaba tendo que enfrentar uma doença grave.

Gostei no geral.
