Buck is the author of many distinguished books for children and adults. She won the Child Study Association's Children's Book Award for The Big Wave, the Pulitzer Prize for her novel The Good Earth, and in 1938 received the Nobel Prize for literature.

    Nascida Pearl Comfort Sydenstricker (Hillsboro, 26 de junho de 1892 — Danby, 6 de março de 1973), também conhecida por Sai Zhen Zhu (chinês: 賽珍珠) foi uma sinologista e escritora estadunidense. Ganhadora do Prémio Pulitzer de 1932, recebeu o Nobel de Literatura de 1938.
