Amazing how Scalzi removed all sexism from the story and provided incredible representation for the characters, breaking more paradigms than any sci-fi book or any other genre I've ever read, in a way never seen before. We're led to believe that the protagonist is a white straight man. But it's revealed that they are not white, and perhaps not even straight or a man since corporeality doesn't carry as much weight in that universe, which only sci-fi can offer us.
