Que nó na garganta

Os corpos indisciplinados e como a nossa sociedade é absolutamente cruel na tentativa de disciplina-los.
O livro é cru, direto, passa a sensação de ter sido escrito em rompantes de emoção da autora.

A inabilidade da sociedade de entender, acolher e conviver com corpos que estão fora do padrão tornam esse livro extremamente necessário.

A autora narra de forma bruta e honesta o trauma e a violência do estupro ocorridos na sua infância, e como isso a levou a se refugiar na comida. Além da criação de uma barreira de proteção com o próprio corpo.

De fato, traumas muitas vezes resultam na adoção de comportamentos obsessivos, mas o fato de ela ter que se justificar o tempo todo para provar que não é apenas gulosa ou preguiçosa, ou a única responsável pelo fato de ser gorda, também nos dizem muito sobre os esteriótipos negativos que a nossa sociedade cria.

Ninguém repreende pessoas magras que comem muita besteira ou são sedentárias, ninguém cobra explicações do porquê delas adotarem esse estilo de vida, porque a questão não é realmente sobre hábitos ou saúde, mas sobre uma necessidade de disciplinar os corpos, especialmente o de mulheres.

Ela diz algumas vezes se sentir invisível, ou exageradamente visível. Nos acostumamos a olhar pessoas gordas ou ignorando o fato de serem gordas, ou as recriminando por isso.
