Me senti decepcionada com a autora. Até quase 70% do livro, tudo estava do jeito que começou. Até a protagonista ficou apagada porque simplesmente não acontecia nada. Achei fraca a motivação para ela prosseguir com o casamento, mas serviu para alguma coisa num momento final. Quando era pov de Kenshin dava vontade de simplesmente pular o capítulo. A única coisa divertida foi ver as interações dos dois principais numa masmorra até então. O desenvolvimento foi péssimo, o que é triste porque Renee tinha um bom rascunho para uma história incrível. Ela só não aprofundou em nada.
O livro só acontece nos últimos 30%, que foram coerentes e nem um pouco surpreendentes. O final deixou mais pontas soltas do que amarradas, concluindo só a trama imperial e a história do casal, deixando a sensação de que foi somente um meio final.
