Alexander "Sandy" McCall Smith, é um escritor britânico-zimbabuense e professor emérito de Direito Médico na Universidade de Edimburgo. No final do século 20, McCall Smith tornou-se um respeitado especialista em direito médico e bioética e serviu em comitês britânicos e internacionais preocupados com essas questões.
