Em busca de uma visão Cristã do Corpo

Love thy body (já publicado pela CPAD no Brasil com o título "ama teu corpo") busca construir uma teologia do corpo enquanto interage e crítica as perspectivas culturais contemporâneas.
Até onde compreendi, o livro possui basicamente 3 pilares. O primeiro é a crítica do dualismo entre fato e valor que como acredita a autora, perpassa todas as principais discussões acerca do corpo no mundo atual. O segundo é a noção de visão de mundo (ou cosmovisao) conceito que a autora usa com frequência durante todo o livro. E o terceiro é a sua visão da moralidade cristã que é profundamente teleológica. Construindo sobre esses 3 conceitos Nancy escreve sobre aborto, eutanásia, sexo casual e as principais questões de gênero discutidas na atualidade.
Este livro possui muitas notas de rodapé e faz referências a diversos artigos e alguns dados científicos. Apesar de poucas páginas o livro traz muito informação interessante. Nancy tem um modo muito gentil de escrita e muito do que está escrito aqui precisa ser discutido nas igrejas brasileiras com urgência. Na maior parte do tempo a escrita do livro é extremamente persuasiva, misturando exposição bíblica e análise cultural, sempre tentando demonstrar a superioridade da posição cristã frente as opções seculares. Fazendo isso porém, de maneira bastante humilde, frequentemente demonstrando empatia para com aqueles dos quais ela discorda.
Por fim é preciso dizer que algumas partes do livro talvez não convençam a todos . Isso é verdade principalmente para última parte onde a argumentação não demonstra a mesma força dos capítulos anteriores. Isso talvez se deva a moralidade teleológica da autora, que eu não acredito ser tão compatível assim com a moralidade bíblica, além disso o capítulo final é onde a posição política de Nancy fica mais explícita e nisso muitos podem tranquilamente discordar sem negar a qualidade do livro. O livro de Nancy Pearcey é a prova de que mulheres são sim necessárias no cenário teológico. Seu livro não perde em nada para o de grande escritores cristãos e certamente é um livro importante para o cenário teológico atual.
