Stevie is the girl no-one notices - she doesn't go to parties and she doesn't have friends over. Lisa Williamson nasceu e cresceu em Nottingham. Estudou teatro na Middlesex University e trabalha, desde que se formou, como atriz de palco e televisão. Entre um papel e outro, ela busca empregos temporários em escritórios, onde aproveita para escrever suas histórias quando ninguém está por perto. Foi em um desses empregos, no setor especial para jovens com dificuldades de identificação de gênero do Serviço Nacional de Saúde da Inglaterra, que a autora se inspirou para escrever A Arte de Ser Normal, seu primeiro livro.
