O livro é composto de duas cartas abertas onde o autor destila toda a dor e opressão que sentiu devido a sua raça nos Estados Unidos. Embora o livro seja ambientado no século passado, basicamente não há mudanças nos problemas que ele menciona.

Deve ser lido com cuidado, porém, por brazucas, a nossa realidade não é a mesma. O preconceito e seu alcance tomam forma diferente e deve ser combatidos como tal.

A última coisa que queremos é tomar a fórmula de outro país e tentar usar aqui... ops. Já fizemos.
