Esse livro te dá um soco no estômago, e quando você é uma mulher negra lendo isso só piora. A realidade é dura e muitas vezes nós buscamos na literatura a fulga dela. Porém, não há como fugir da realidade ao ler esse livro. A primeira autobiografia de Maya Angelou traz muito para o leitor pensar, muita informação que os jovens do século XXI não sabem acerca do período da segregação racial nos Estados Unidos, e para leitores de todas as idades, classes e raças refletirem sobre as diferentes vivências no mundo. Maya Angelou escreve de maneira cativante e poética sobre os mais diversos assuntos e captura o leitor logo nas primeiras páginas. Vale a pena a leitura.
