Robert Greene nasceu em Los Angeles. É formado em estudos clássicos. Foi editor da Esquire, entre outras revistas, e é dramaturgo. Mora em Los Angeles e trabalhou como roteirista em Hollywood. Em 1995, esteve envolvido na criação da escola de arte Fabrica, em Veneza, na Itália. É autor de As 48 leis do poder, A arte da sedução, 33 estratégias de guerra e A 50ª lei. Mais conhecido pelos livros de estratégia, sedução e poder. Esteve em colaboração com o rapper 50 Cent para o lançamento do livro The 50th Law. O seu mais recente livro foi lançado no final de 2018 com o nome de "The Laws of Human Nature", ou em português, "As leis da natureza humana".
