Twenty-five-old Lacey Whitman is blindsided when she’s diagnosed with the BCRA1 gene mutation: the “breast cancer” gene. Her high hereditary risk forces a decision: increased surveillance or the more radical step of a preventative double mastectomy. Lacey doesn't want to lose her breasts. For one, she’s juggling two career paths; her work with the prestigious New York trend forecaster Hoffman House, and her role on the founding team of a sustainable fashion app with friend/mentor, Vivian Chang. Secondly, small-town Lacey’s not so in touch with her sexuality: she doesn’t want to sacrifice her breasts before she’s had the chance to give them their hey-day. To help her make her choice, she (and her friends) creates a “boob bucket list”: everything she wants do with and for her boobs before a possible surgery. This kicks off a year of sensual exploration and sexual entertainment for the quick-witted Lacey Whitman. Ultimately, this is a story about Lacey’s relationship to her body and her future. Both are things she thought she could control through hard work and sacrifice. Both are things she will change by choosing to have a major surgery that could save her life, and will give her the future she really wants.

Hello friend! I’m an author currently living it up in New York City. My third novel, THE REGULARS, will be out through Emily Bestler Books in August 2016. It’s about beauty and broads and is basically the Best Thing Ever. Oh, you wanna know more than that? Well, I’ve done a bunch of stuff like make short films and edit magazines and make things online but the thing that impresses most people the most is I was in a band, which is kind of hilarious, because we weren’t even really a band, but we had a name (Dead Dead Girls) and made a demo so maybe it was real, I don’t know, those days are PRETTY HAZY if you know what I mean. I wrote a book based on that whole time though, She’s With The Band. It’s pretty cute. I mean, at the time, it drove me crazy but I reread it a while ago, and I was like, ‘Actually, this is pretty f**king good!’ I moved from Sydney to New York in 2009 just for fun. Sometimes I do improv but mostly I enjoy meeting new and interesting cheese platters. I used to write for lots of magazines but now I’m too lazy to do that, because you have to pitch, like, five stories for every one you get up UGH. I write from the New York Writers Room, which involves force-feeding myself chocolate macaroons and many, many cups of tea YUM. Despite the fact I write and love thinking about artificial intelligence, science and the future, I don’t own a smart phone and never learnt to drive. No, NEVER. I want to take you on a journey into my brain and the many thoughts, opinions and worlds that jostle for space in there.
