Fazia tempo que não lia um livro tão gostoso. Tessa Afshar usa a primeira pessoa para contar a história de Ariadne. Desde pequena ela sofre para alcançar as expectativas da mãe e vê seu mundo ruir quando a mãe decide se divorciar. Ariadna e os irmãos são afastados do pai, a quem tanto amam, para morar com o avô em Atenas. Anos mais tarde a jovem ao se ver obrigada a casar, ela e o irmão postiço fogem e voltam para Corinto, onde ela descobre o segredo que o pai mantém e acaba juntando-se a ele.

A história vale muito a pena, porque além de um enredo cheio de reviravoltas, ele também traz muito conteúdo histórico de um jeito leve e impressionante. Você absorve um monte de conhecimento sobre a época e nem precisa se esforçar. Outro ponto importante é que o livro é contemporâneo aos dias do apóstolo Paulo, ele aparece no livro, assim como outros personagens bíblicos. Tessa consegue misturar os textos de forma adorável.
