"Agostino" é um livro que aborda a perda da inocência, e as consequências que vem junto dela. Alberto Moravia conta em terceira pessoa, essa fase da vida de Pisa de um jeito aberto, e que talvez outros escritores não tiveram coragem.

Agostino, apelidado de Pisa, é um menino de 13 anos que mantinha sua inocência. Criado pela mãe viúva e de classe alta, sentia um amor puro por ela, uma mulher muito bonita que atraia olhares dos homens. Pisa começa uma amizade com um grupo de meninos delinquentes, e maliciosos, que mostram a ele, o mundo da sexualidade.

Com a descoberta desse novo mundo, Pisa, se sente perturbado e sujo, e começa a ver a mãe dele com outros olhos. Ele passa a se sentir desconfortável com os toques maternais dela. Apesar disso a curiosidade reina mais forte, e ele fica "obsecado" para saber mais sobre sexualidade.

É uma leitura interessante, que trás um tema, com uma escrita bem contada, é uma história rápida, mas em certos momentos, a linguagem pode ser complicada.
