Para nós brasileiros, o livro agrega muito conhecimento. É uma análise não apaixonada dos primeiros 'Pilgrims' que foram para New England no navio Mayflower e as implicações seguintes até aprox 1670. Então o livro cobre, com mais detalhe, 50 anos de história (1620 a 1670).
Dos 16 capítulos, li os primeiros 11 (até 1640 aprox). Meu maior interesse era na história dos Pilgrims.

Em resumo:
1) Detalhado, mas com linguagem fácil;
2) Análises não apaixonadas da relações dos 'Pilgrims' versus Puritanos versus imigrantes 'Strangers' (ingleses não necessariamente com laços fortes religiosos - Anglicanos) versus diversos grupos diferentes de índios da região versus pescadores e aventureiros Ingleses e Frances - uma confusão;
3) Dificuldades, doenças, confrontos e sucessos da colonia de Plymouth;
4) Thanksgiving e passagens mitológicas famosas;
5) Um pouco da história da chegada a partir de 1630 dos 'Puritans' e suas colonias;
6) Relações comerciais e diplomáticas intensas, tipo uma geopolítica local, entre tribos indígenas, colonos, aventureiros e comerciantes. Como na América do Sul, no início não eram brancos versus índios, mas um jogo constante que mudava em tempos em tempos de interesses diversos.

Interessante destacar como a relação dos imigrantes ingleses com os índios começou 'muito bem' e com o tempo, a partir do sucesso e expansão das colônias, deteriorou-se e praticamente deixou de existir de forma amigável por volta de 1670 quando as tribos foram praticamente dizimadas por guerras ou escravidão. Uma tendência não só lá, mas aqui também. Talvez um pouco 'pior' nos EUA por não haver praticamente uniões inter-raciais como houve por aqui.
