Flush was an English cocker spaniel who belonged to the nineteenth-century poet Elizabeth Barrett Browning. Virginia Woolf learned of him from the love letters Elizabeth wrote to her future husband, fellow poet Robert Browning, and found ‘the figure of their dog made me laugh so, I couldn't resist making him a Life.’ The resulting ‘biography’ combines sensuous imaginative description with sharp social comment, and brings Woolf’s unsentimental humour and insight to the fore. Flush - memórias de um cão é daqueles livros que dão um quentinho no ❤️ e se você for apaixonado por pets então, é um prato cheio. Eu que sou a #loka dos bichos, nem preciso dizer que amei né?! É um livro fora da curva dentre todos que li da VW até hoje e se tornou um queridinho pra mim.
O legal da obra é vermos toda a vida da poeta vitoriana Elizabeth Barret Browning pelos olhos do seu cãozinho e também de toda a Inglaterra da época, além de ficarmos sabendo também da história da aristocracia canina (o máximo da chiqueza, rs). É claro que os críticos de então não aceitaram bem o livro da VW, mas os leitores comuns amaram essa delicia de ler e eu que não sou boba e nem nada, gostei demais, afinal de contas por aqui também apreciamos fofurices.
