Tove Jansson
Tove Jansson nasceu em Helsinki (Finlândia), que era então parte do Grão-Ducado da Finlândia. Sua família pertence à minoria sueca na Finlândia, foi uma família de artistas: seu pai era um escultor Jansson Viktor Bernhard, Signe Hammarsten e sua mãe era um designer gráfico e ilustrador. Os irmãos de Tove também seguiram carreira artística Per Olov e fotógrafo Lars do escritor e cartunista. Ele treinou na University College of Arts, Artesanato e Design em Estocolmo entre 1930 e 1933, a Escola de Artes Gráficas da Academia Finlandesa de Belas Artes entre 1933 e 1937 e, finalmente, em L'Ecole d'Adrien Santo e L "Ecole des Beaux-Arts em Paris, em 1938.
