Clássico, porém...

Este é um daqueles clássicos que se estuda na faculdade de Letras: Os contos da Cantuária, obra do longínquo século XIV, escrita por Geoffrey Chaucer, é um reflexo das tradições antigas de contação de histórias. Aqui vemos uma variedade de tipos comuns fazendo juntos uma peregrinação à Catedral da Cantuária a fim de visitar o túmulo de São Thomas Becket. Para se entreterem ao longo da viagem, os peregrinos decidem contar histórias. A obra é incompleta e, nesta edição, alguns dos contos foram suprimidos. Além disso, como esta edição é em língua inglesa, fica praticamente impossível acompanhar a leitura, visto que foi escrita, obviamente, em Inglês Medieval: muito diferente do inglês como o conhecemos hoje.
