Ells94w 30/10/2023How to love when I deal with my trauma by reading true crime"Much like Phoebe, I sometimes struggle with remembering that I?m not an island, I?m not alone, it?s okay to ask for or receive love and support."
I loved this first exert of the writer's acknowledgements because it truly reflects what the book is about.
It works as some sort of shadow work where this character, Phoebe, frees herself off from this bubble of hurt, isolation and self-loathing, created by her trauma with her parents relationship, to realize that love is important and it doesn't has to be this flawed and hurtful experience.
The romance is sweet, I don't think it was an " I'll change for this guy" or that he was responsable for her development kinda of situation.
I felt like this book was like mining gold from mud. Despite some really boring parts, it has it's worthy pieces. It's not hardcore but, rather, a light read.
