I've suffered
William Golding writes a story that's not made for the ones who have a weak heart. You'll feel sad, worried, angry, frustrated, and never happy. I've read Lord of the Flies only 'cause the book club I am asked us to. And sincerely, this is not a book for you to read for pleasure. It certainly needs deep thinking and a detailed analysis. The British boys from the book, and their situation, look like an experience from the 19th century. When human rights weren't a thing. Also, the work makes it seem that they're just mini adults. And the times you remember them as kids, it shocks you. One last thing I can affirm is that the end could be more surprising, and the navy officer could've been more gentle. But, I recognize this as an important piece to close all the harsh moments the boys have lived.

This book is amazing and captivating. It is about a group of children whose plane has crashed that end up in an island in the Pacific. They make their way through survival without any grown up, and soon organize themselves into a society - with rules, division of power and of labour. Thus, the book involves much more than just an adventure, it is also a deep discussion about how thin the line between civilization and barbarity is. It is impossible not to fall in love with the boys and create bounds of understanding from the very first second. The interesting part is that each one of them represents an ideology and a pattern of behavior in a political environment.

Crianças de 10 anos presas em uma ilha buscando a todo custo a sobrevivência. Uma leitura rápida, intrigante e com personagens envolventes. Se você gostou de The Society na Netflix, leia esse livro.

Pig Lord
Me entreteu. O livro tem seus problemas, retrata a tal da "civilidade" contra a barbárie, e esse instinto primitivo que precisa ser domesticado. Típico de um autor branco, produto de uma Inglaterra imperialista e racista. Além disso, acho que li um pouco tarde, já não é mais pra mim.

Dito isso, ainda fiquei entretido, gostava de ler as crianças conversando; é uma confusão de vozes, comentários avulsos, choros e sorrisos. A ilha também é um elemento vivo e presente. Recomendo para quem ainda não saiu do EM.

Ainda em tempo, o autor odeia crianças gordinhas, coitado do Piggy.

Intrigante
Senhor das Moscas é a obra mais reconhecida do escritor britânico William Golding, publicada em 1954.
A obra tem uma ideia bem dark da realidade da vida humana. Os meninos perdidos são expostos a dificuldades da ilha e tem sua moral de homem britânico branco posto a teste. A tese do autor é que em situações de não acompanhamento os jovens se tornariam selvagens e assassinos. Há quem concorde e quem discorde. O próprio é contraditório em si.

Atenta
Comecei a leitura influenciada pelo meu personagem preferido em Lost e nem sabia sobre o que se tratava a história.

A premissa e o desenvolvimento achei genial! Todo o esquema de como a ilha e a convivência vão moldando os garotos é muito bem trabalhada.

Único ponto foi que o enredo me deixou entediada :(

An amazing study of Hobbes ideas applied to a miniature society of lost children
I've been willing to try this book for a long time for its strong classical value, but what made me want to read it so badly was how much another favorite author of mine likes it...Stephen King.
So, I got the book and started going through. It was first published in 1954 so the English is quite intricate, and the reading can be a little challenging at first. It is totally worth the effort, though.
This is an amazing work of literature that reiterates the profound Hobbesian nature of men. In it, a bunch of boys see themselves in an inhabited island as their plane crashes. When they wake up, there is no human presence at all and “it’s only us” as they say to one another. What seems to be a time for fun and freedom transitions to a hopeless attempt of stablishing order as they realize they need order to function if they want to be rescued. But as time goes by and their memories of civilization fades away savagery starts to take over and the true evil nature of man dominates their hearts.
Hobbes used to say that the natural state of men is “bellum omnium contra omnes” (war of all against all) and that the social contract is necessary to establish a civil society where people abdicate of some of their rights for the sake of society to work. That is exactly how we see it happen in the book. Not only the story is a beautifully written tale of lost children, trying to control their own lives with an incomplete education and the lack of the knowledge and critical thinking to do so. It is also a tale about how free man without social contract turn to their natural state of war. Even though the kids attempt to create their own state, the legitimate elected leader is not strong enough to prevent their small society from collapsing.
The kids are remarkably characterized with their very own young personalities and even if you don’t like Hobbes and all that philosophical stuff aforementioned you can still enjoy a well written book about kids being kids and doing what regular kids would do (hopefully not all the time) in a deserted island.
Finally, it is a great book, a good classic and a must read for any booklover or anyone that likes to reflect about life or society. And that beyond all that will make you think about how fast the human mind can crumble when under constant pressure.

Incrível
Certamente o principal motivo de eu ter amado tanto esse livro foi tê-lo ouvido por um áudio excelente no YouTube, mas a história de fato é muito boa; fiquei triste, me surpreendi, me aliviei, etc., junto com Ralph, o protagonista.

Amo livros cujos títulos são explicados em um momento específico da história e esse certamente serviu uma explicação muito boa e surpreendente.

Apesar de ter lido por obrigação, eu gostei muito e me surpreendi bastante com a história. Achei que seria um livro besta sobre um acidente de avião e várias crianças que ficam malocas mas é muito mais que isso. O livro trata de assuntos relacionados com a natureza humano e como tudo que é bom é relativo, fala da inocência e da facilidade com a qual ela pode simplesmente ir embora. A escrita é um pouco cansativa mas no geral o livro é ok.

Real, raw and remarkable
I started reading this book as mandatory reading at school, I confess I wasn't very excited but the story caught me so much that I decided to finish it even after it had already been used.
This book is painful, real and raw. An engaging narrative that will certainly bring you a feeling of anguish, the kind that rises up in your throat and makes you grimace.
William Golding outdid himself in this book, bringing a unique story that is still relevant today. It's impossible to read this book without liking at least one topic.
In addition to being a narrative beyond its time, William manages to create a very important dynamic between anarchism and capitalism, nature vs nurture and the painful evil that we all have within us, That Golding carried with him throughout his life.
A must read before you die.

Não sei pq esperei uma história super reveladora, foi bem básico, nada que eu já não tivesse esperando por talvez ter visto muitas séries e filmes de gente presa em ilhas, que provavelmente tiveram MT influência desse livro

A história é ótima e super bem escrita.

Antes de ler o livro, recomendo assistir ao vídeo da Tatiane Feltrin. Vi o vídeo primeiro e acabou deixando a minha leitura bem mais legal.

Lord of the Flies
Lord of the Flies conta a jornada de meninos ingleses que após sofrerem uma queda de avião enquanto fugiam de uma guerra acabam em uma ilha deserta e enfrentam dificuldades para sobreviverem sem adultos.

Os garotos são influenciados pelo pensamento "o que adultos iriam fazer nesse caso?" e logo montam uma "assembleia" para discutirem sobre as melhores opções. Logo o grupo se diverge em dois e brigas sérias começam a acontecer.

O livro busca mostrar o mal da humanidade, como a ganância e o poder podem corromper mesmo pessoas "inocentes" como as crianças. Também retrata a esperança e a luta contra os medos durante a espera por um resgate.
