Lógico, Pesado e Talvez Perigosíssimo (Pedrada)
“A man wants to earn money in order to be happy, and his whole effort and the besto f a life are devoted to earning of that money. Happiness is forgotten; the means are taken for the end”. Albert Camus.
It’s enough to summe up part of this “highbrown” and “heavy” book.
The Myth of Sisyphus/O Mito de Sísifo.
Sisyphus/Sísifo was a mythical character who suffered a huge punishment from the gods. Why?
According to the history, Sísifo made a deal telling a father ‘bout his daugther’s kidnapping (a god did it).
In other hand, the only Sísifo’s wishes was getting water for his people, came from a specifical property. Then, everything was done but the god didn’t like a few Sísifo’s denunciation.
He decided sending Thanatos (The Death) to make “justice”. Our “hero” putted Thanatos in chains, deceiving the gods for the first time. Here, we got a problem, the death in chains anybody couldn’t die anymore. Aries couldn’t handle this event and sent the death once more. Meanwhile, Sísifo started off his second trap to deceive again. Already dead In hell, he’ll complain to Perséfone ‘bout his unfair funeral who will allow Sísifo coming back to the lives’ world, promesing he’ll be back asap after a normal funeral. You know, he didn’t return, for the second time...
He spent mounts of years beside his wife, making lots of good things, taking the most of his life! But he couldn’t deceive the gods, they prepared a “special” setence to him, rolling a huge stone ‘till montain’s top, doing that, the stone, always will fall to the bottom, in an eternal/perfect loop, FOREVER.
Bringing it to our life, that’s the way, working a lot for a goal might we don’t reach it. Sísifo was a clever and intelligent person but he didn’t get, even deceiving gods (The absurd man facing the reality). Are we free?
The whole book, Camus is trying to explain it as the status quo of ours existences, although, the main question is: “What’s the meaning of life? Is it Worth it? ”.
Advice: Suicide is a theme here that appear several times, in a philosophical way, isn’t treated as “nonsense” thing, then, if you are a “narrow-minded” or sensitive person, stay away from this book.
