Round the world in 80 days

One evening, Phileas Fogg is reading a newspaper. "The railway is now complete in India," he tells his friends. "A person can now go round the world in eighty days."

"It isn't possible," his friends say. "You have forgotten bad weather. Perhaps the ships will arrive late, or will catch fire. Trains can be late too."

But Phileas Fogg is an exact man. He makes a bet with his friends. He bets twenty thousand pounds that he can go round the world in eighty days. And he leaves that night for Paris, with his servant Passepartout, and a small bag of clothes...
